As part of the Healthy Child Programme (DOH October 2009) your child should be offered a development review between the age of 2 and 2.5 years.

Key areas targeted by the government at this age are: nutrition, active play, obesity prevention, immunisation, personal development, social development, emotional development, speech, language, communication and injury prevention.

Areas of developmental assessed include: speech, language, emotional development, learning, social skills, locomotor and fine movement, physical health, growth, hearing, vision and dental health.

Health Visitor 4 U is able to perform a detailed assessment of your child at this time. However if you are concerned about any stage of your child’s development we can offer a development assessment anytime between the ages of 1 and 5 years of age.

There will be a one off payment for the assessment. If a review is required it will be free of charge. If a referral to another agency e.g speech and language, a small administrative fee will be charged.

We can also offer advice, at any time from birth to 5 years, on any aspect of child development including:

  • Toilet training
  • Baby-led feeding and Fussy eaters
  • Sleep – see sleep consultancy page
  • Behaviour
